Statement of faith

2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the man of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work." (NIV)

"The Spirit of God uses the Word of God to make us like the Son of God. To become like Jesus, we must fill our lives with his Word.

Quiet-Time Reflections

Week of: August 1, 2016

The article linked below was forwarded to me by a friend. I found it to be something worth pondering as I have been crying out to God for discernment as it relates to my vote in the upcoming election for President of the United States. Although the article is long in nature, I encourage you to read it in its entirety with an open mind. The article is addressed to the "Never Trumper's" of which I was one.

Many of you like myself are or have considered sitting this election out. You feel defeated in the process and the choices of the candidates make you cringe. I have now come to the conclusion that "sitting it out" is a dangerous option. Instead we must pray and do extensive research as we ask for wisdom for the task at hand. Then in November we vote for the person that best aligns to the values we hope to see; that is our American privilege!

Christian to Christian; there is a Biblical element along with some common sense factors within the writing I am sharing below. I personally found it to be exactly what I needed to better understand what is before me. As this writer indicates, "we are not electing someone to a sacred or ecclesiastical office, we are electing them to a political office" and that is helpful in the discerning process.

Be blessed friends and still your souls.  Despite the outcome of this election, God is still very much in control and He will only allow that which is necessary to fulfill His future plans. And, keep in mind that this country has deserved God's wrath for a very long time yet God has been merciful to a society that appears to have abandoned His Holy instructions. I don't think we can argue this point when we face the fact that we are a society that allows the killing of innocent babies everyday under the argument of "a woman's right to choose."  Now in 2016, we have legalized "gay marriage" under the argument that everyone deserves to love and be married to whomever they desire despite the fact that God created and instituted the covenant of marriage to be between a man and a woman. God help us as our culture continues to mock His lessons of morality and honor.  And, may God help you to discern which candidate will best stand up for that which you value in your own heart. May they be someone who values religious liberties because we are on the verge of loosing them.  Despite what some are teaching, all roads do not lead to the same place.

In Christ by grace,
